چکیده

In this paper two methods for human face recognition and the influence of location mistakes are shown. First one, Principal Components Analysis (PCA), has been one of the most applied methods to perform face verification in 2D. In our experiments three classifiers have been considered to test influence of location errors in face verification using PCA. An initial set of “correct located faces” has been used for PCA matrix computation and to train all classifiers. An initial test set was built considering a “correct located faces” set (based on different images than training ones) and then a new test set was obtained by applying a small displacement in both axis (20 pixels) to the initial set. Second method is based on geometrical characteristics constructed with facial and cranial points that come from a 3D representation. Data are acquired by a calibrated stereo system. Classifiers considered for both methods are knearest neighbours (KNN), artificial neural networks: radial basis function (RBF) and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Given our data set, results show that SVM is capable to classify correctly in the presence of small location errors. RBF has an acceptable correct rate but the number of false positives is always higher than in the SVM case.

2D-3D Hybrid Face Recognition Based on PCA and Feature Modelling

Hybrid face recognition, using image (2D) and structural (3D) information, has explored the fusion of Nearest Neighbour classifiers. This paper examines the effectiveness of feature modelling for each individual modality, 2D and 3D. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the fusion of feature modelling techniques for the 2D and 3D modalities yields performance improvements over the individual cla...

Fusion of Likelihood Ratio Classifier with ICP-based Matcher for 3D Face Recognition

Three-dimensional (3D) face recognition systems have started to become popular in biometric systems recently. This is due to several factors: i) facial shape characteristics contain discriminative information, ii) availability of practical 3D acquisition devices, and iii) invariance of 3D facial information to several factors such as illumination and pose changes. It has been shown that classic...

Assessment of a 2D EPID-based Dosimetry Algorithm for Pre-treatment and In-vivo Midplane Dose Verification

Introduction: The use of electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) is a method for the dosimetric verification of radiotherapy plans both pretreatment and in-vivo. The aim of this study was to test a 2D EPID-based dosimetry algorithm for dose verification of some plans inside a homogenous and anthropomorphic phantom and in-vivo, as well. Materials and Methods: </strong...

An Automatic 2D, 2.5D & 3D Score-Based Fusion Face Verification System

A score-based fusion for face verification is presented from FRAV3D Face Database (2D, 2.5D and 3D face images). In the case of 2.5D and 3D data, an automatic correction of pose has been carried out by detecting the nose tip and the eyes. For each kind of image a different feature extraction has been applied (Principal Component Analysis and Support Vector Machine for 2D and 2.5D, and Iterative...

A New Restructured Shaded Pole Induction Motor- 3D Finite Element Analysis and Experimental Verification

Shaded pole induction motors, despite the simplicity and low cost, are difficult to analyze particularly in the equivalent circuit methods, due to the asymmetric structure, saturation, harmonics, inaccurate estimation of leakage inductances and skew. Hence, 3D numerical methods could be very useful in the design and optimization stage. This paper presents the 3D transient finite element analysi...
